Velocore Hack
Today, the DeFi industry was rocked again by news of a hacking attack. This time, the decentralized trading platform Velocore was targeted by cybercriminals. Previously, Officer's Notes revealed potential attacks against Velocore on two blockchains, zkSync and Linea.
Velocore also stated that they had succeeded in identifying the cause of the attack and were working to prevent criminals from using similar methods in the future.
Currently, the Velocore team is coordinating with security partners to increase platform protection. As a security measure, all Velocore features, except the withdrawal function, have been temporarily disabled.
SFC Hong Kong
Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has just updated its list of virtual asset trading platforms. Based on the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Regulations, 11 official platforms are declared licensed, namely HKbitEX, PantherTrade, Accumulus, DFX Labs, Bixin.com, xWhale, YAX, Bullish, Crypto.com, WhaleFin, and Matrixport HK.
Meanwhile, the remaining 6 platforms are still in the licensing application stage, namely BGE, HKVAX, VDX, bitV, HKX, and bitcoinworld. SFC Hong Kong emphasized that all platforms still listed in the application stage do not yet have a license and potentially do not meet the specified requirements.

Tether Co-Founder Intends to Establish New Company in Hong Kong
Brock Pierce, co-founder of Tether, the world's largest stablecoin, is considering returning to Hong Kong and building his new company. Pierce's considerations come amid waning interest from several large crypto exchanges that previously intended to apply for licenses as virtual asset trading platforms in Hong Kong.
This is related to the SFC which recently determined that exchanges licensed in Hong Kong are prohibited from serving mainland Chinese citizens. This provision seems to close the gap that has been Hong Kong's main attraction for crypto players.
