Bittime – The crypto community is abuzz with the announcement of Matter Labs' first ZKsync airdrop scheduled for June 17th. This airdrop will distribute 17.5% of ZKsync's original tokens, but the exclusion of key participant criteria and the still gray airdrop distribution strategy sparked massive controversy. Community Disappointment over ZKsync Airdrop: This Airdrop is a Scam!
Many community members voiced their dissatisfaction with the allocation and eligibility criteria for the ZKsync airdrop. This controversy prompted some parties to withdraw funding and turn to other Layer 2 solutions, such as Arbitrum. Critics argued that the airdrop process was not transparent and fair, especially after Bybit, a crypto exchange, announced it would launch ZKsync (ZK) tokens.
Why So Many ZKsync Scam Sounds?
"Why are many crypto influencers labeling ZKsync a scam? Is it because the airdrop did not meet the community's initial expectations?" asked Star Xu, CEO of OKEx. The sentiment was widely echoed on social media, where the hashtag #ZKsyncScam gained traction.

Concerns about Distributive Justice
WindCrypto, Co-Founder of Crypto House, highlighted the imbalance in the airdrop distribution: "Bybit hot wallet won a significant airdrop (52,000). 100,000 ZK token winners with 0 tx or 1 tx. Those who deserved it got less ZK tokens than they should have." This comment underlines the imbalance seen in the way tokens were allocated.

ZK Nation's Response: Fulfill the Airdrop Requirements First..
Responding to the furore, ZK Nation clarified the eligibility criteria for the airdrop. To be eligible, users must interact with ten smart contracts, provide liquidity to a DeFi protocol, contribute to a Gitcoin round on ZKsync Lite, trade ten different ERC20 tokens, own a Libertas Omnibus NFT, and make transactions on ZKsync Lite in three different months prior to launch ZKsync Era mainnet.
The capture to determine eligibility was taken on March 24, 2024, at 00:00 UTC, marking the first anniversary of the ZKsync Era mainnet launch.
Despite this clarification, skepticism still exists within the community, and the hashtag #ZKsyncScam continues to trend as the debate over airdrop fairness and transparency continues.

This ongoing controversy highlights the importance of clear, fair, and transparent processes in the rapidly evolving crypto landscape, where community trust is paramount.
