Bittime - The Graph completes the transition to a decentralized blockchain data network by completing the Sunrise initiative. Subgraph technology now indexes more than 55 chains, allowing developers to access and organize data from multiple decentralized file systems.
The Graph Removes Training Wheels to Complete the Transition
Following the completion of The Graph Foundation's Sunrise initiative, Graph, an indexing and query protocol used to organize blockchain data, has shifted to a fully decentralized data layer.
Sunrise's decentralization plan consists of three stages. Subgraph scaled from a centralized hosting service to The Graph's worldwide network, consisting of token-incentivized people and independent companies that serve as data indexers.
No Company Displays Data Exclusively
Neither company displays data exclusively on the network, unlike web2 applications. Instead, each indexer chooses which applications they want to sync and display queries in The Graph. Users then receive payments in native GRT tokens in exchange for their contributions to the network.

The Graph Hapus Training Wheels
Tegan Kline, CEO of Edge & Node and a member of The Graph's protocol development team, said in a statement that "With the completion of The Graph's Sunrise decentralized data, we have removed Training Wheels as described by Vitalik Buterin." The Graph data Indexer Network is now token-incentivized and completely decentralized. Now there is no need to rely on temporary crutches or centralized hosting providers.

Graph Launches Technology Known As Subgraph
Back in 2018, Graph launched a technology known as subgraph, which currently indexes more than 55 chains, including Optimism, Base, Arbitrum, Avalanche, NEAR, and Cosmos. Subgraph helps developers extract and organize data from blockchain networks for use in decentralized applications. It also allows developers to access data from decentralized file systems such as Arweave and IPFS.

Conclusion
By changing their blockchain data indexing and querying protocol to be fully decentralized, Graph has completed Sunrise's decentralization initiative. In this plan, there are three stages. One is the upgrade of the subgraph from a centralized hosting service to a global network of data indexers paid with tokens. Indexers are free to choose applications and queries and do not have a data monopoly.
GRT tokens are given to users as compensation for their contributions. Subgraph technology, first launched in 2018, now indexes more than fifty-five blockchain chains and allows developers to access data from various decentralized file systems. It helps develop decentralized applications.
