Bittime - ProShares applied for Ethereum spot ETF on June 11. This filing marks a significant step forward for investors looking to invest in Ethereum without needing to directly hold the crypto asset.

- Bank of New York Mellon (BNY Mellon): Transfer agent, processes ETF purchase and resale orders and maintains records of ETF unit holdings.

ProShares: Flexible Ethereum Spot ETF Management
Although the document defines the roles of the parties involved, ProShares has the flexibility to make changes. For example, BNY Mellon's initial agreement as administrator had a two-year term with annual renewal options. ProShares may also add or end cooperation with ETH custodians, cash custodians and major execution institutions.
Ethereum Spot ETF Approval and Launch Process
ProShares' application was filed after the US SEC previously approved regulatory changes proposed by NYSE Arca, the stock exchange that plans to launch trading in this ETF.
However, approval of these regulatory changes does not necessarily guarantee the launch of a spot Ethereum ETF from ProShares. The approval process for the S-1 documents submitted by ProShares is still ongoing. This approval is expected to take weeks to months.
Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart estimates ProShares' spot Ethereum ETF may not be launched at the same time as spot Ethereum ETFs from other companies that have applied first.
The SEC is known to have approved regulatory changes for eight other spot Ethereum ETF applications on May 23. However, S-1 approval for each of these ETFs has not yet been obtained.
