Alleged Airdrop zkSync Fraud, Sybil Account Earns Millions of ZK Tokens

Bittime - A witch hunter (hacker hunter) named Artemis recently uploaded surprising findings via the Twitter platform. He suspected that there had been fraud in the zkSync token airdrop. How could this happen? Read this article to the end to find out!

Sybil Account Allegedly Controls Millions of ZK Tokens

Artemis discovered Sybil accounts suspected of cheating in the zkSync airdrop process. Sybil accounts are fake accounts created to manipulate the system or gain illegitimate profits.

In his upload, Artemis discovered a suspicious pattern in the zkSync airdrop qualification list . He found several accounts that deposited identical amounts of ETH on the same day.

Almost all Sybil accounts are listed in LayerZero Labs

Even more surprising, each account received a ZK token airdrop of 15,000 tokens, bringing the total accumulation of these accounts to more than 2 million ZK tokens.

Artemis' findings further strengthen the suspicion of fraud because almost all of these accounts are registered in the Sybil list belonging to LayerZero Labs, a well-known blockchain company.

ZK Token Hunting and Recovery Efforts

Artemis stated that thanks to the hard work of LayerZero witch hunters and the use of an internal Sybil list, tens of millions of ZK tokens could potentially be returned to legitimate users. 

Meanwhile, Artemis' uploads have received public attention and gone through an external audit process, with a very low false positive rate of only 0.01%.

Currently, Artemis is still waiting for confirmation from LayerZero Labs regarding its findings. However, he is quite confident that the report is accurate and can help recover illegally obtained ZK tokens.
