Bittime - zkSync, Ethereum's Layer 2 network, will hold a ZK token airdrop next week. This zkSync airdrop is a golden opportunity for early adopters and protocol contributors to earn tokens for free.
zkSync Airdrop Size and Claim Period
zkSync will distribute 3.675 billion ZK tokens, which is equivalent to 17.5% of the total supply of 21 billion tokens. This zkSync airdrop will be a one-off event and users can start claiming their tokens from next week until January 3, 2025. Meanwhile, contributors can make claims starting June 24, 2024.

Who is Eligible to Receive zkSync Airdrop?
A total of 695,232 registered crypto wallets are eligible to receive the ZKsync airdrop. The selection criteria are based on user activity on zkSync Era and zkSync Lite recorded on March 24, 2024 at 07:00 WIB.
Interestingly, 89% of the total airdrop tokens were allocated to users, while the remaining 11% was allocated to contributors. Eligible users are those who have previously made transactions on zkSync and reached certain activity thresholds.
Meanwhile, contributors refer to individuals, developers, researchers, communities, and companies who contribute to the zkSync ecosystem and protocol through development, advocacy, or education, regardless of their network activities.
Other ZK Token Distribution
In addition to the airdrop, zkSync plans token distribution through ecosystem initiatives (49.1%), investors (17.2%), and the Matter Labs team (16.1%). Distribution through the ecosystem initiative will be managed by the zkSync Foundation and ZK Nation, aiming to support the growth of the ecosystem with the arrival of new users.
zkSync allocates nearly half a percent of the total token supply to the experimental community. This includes crypto wallets that have received Degen and Bonsai airdrops. This category also includes wallets that have participated in the game Crypto the Game, as well as NFT projects Pudgy Penguins and Milady Maker.

Transparency and Token Locking
zkSync promotes transparency by releasing complete details regarding token allocation. Allocations to investors and the Matter Labs team will be locked in for the first year.
