Bittime -Attorney General Letitia James has filed a lawsuit against NovaTech Ltd, founded by Cynthia Petion and Eddy Petion. The company is accused of luring investors, particularly Haitian immigrants in the United States, with promises of lucrative weekly profits.
The lawsuit states that NovaTech Ltd managed to raise more than $1 billion or around IDR 16.2 trillion through a pyramid scheme that also operated as a Ponzi scheme , where funds from new investors were used to pay profits to previous investors.
False Claims from AWS Mining Pty Ltd
Apart from NovaTech Ltd, AWS Mining Pty Ltd is also the target of a lawsuit for allegedly making false claims promising to double investors' money within 15 months through crypto mining activities. AWS Mining operations failed in 2019, and Cynthia Petion, co-founder of NovaTech Ltd, even mocked the community as heresy, which worsened the situation and damaged the confidence of investors.
