24% of Top 100 Tokens Experience Low Market Capitalization
Based on a tweet from Daniel Yan, Founder of Kryptanium Capital and Co-Founder of Matrixport, the majority of crypto assets are currently experiencing low market capitalization.
Based on current market capitalization, as many as 24% of the top 100 tokens are at their lowest price levels throughout 2024.

Interestingly, Daniel Yan's tweet also stated that 73% of the top 100 tokens had worse performance than Bitcoin (BTC) in the Year to Date (YTD) period or since the beginning of 2024.
This means that the majority of tokens from the top 100 have experienced more price declines than Bitcoin, the crypto asset with the largest market capitalization.
Low Market Cap, ETH and SOL Disappoint
Furthermore, the tweet also highlighted the performance of Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL), two well-known crypto assets that are often included in the top 10 in market capitalization.
However, in 2024, the performance of both will be disappointing due to low market capitalization. Ethereum ranked 37th, while Solana ranked 30th on YTD's best performers list.

The data shared by Daniel Yan also reveals other interesting facts. The three crypto assets with the best performance YTD are actually occupied by meme coins, namely tokens with a strong community base and generally have high price volatility.
One of them is the WIF token, which was recorded as the best performer with a price increase of up to 1700%. In contrast, the ORDI token was the worst performer with a price drop of up to 54%.
