Former FTX Executive Agrees to Give Up Property in the Bahamas as a Form of Compensation

Bittime - In the latest development regarding FTX's bankruptcy, former co-CEO Ryan Salame agreed to surrender ownership of property worth millions of dollars in the Bahamas as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors. 

This news was disclosed based on a motion filed by FTX and its affiliated debtors on May 1, 2024 in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Guilty Plea Agreement Details

This agreement stems from criminal charges filed against Salame in September 2023. As part of the guilty plea agreement, Salame was required to pay $5.6 million in restitution to the debtors. 

However, in lieu of cash payments, Salame chose to transfer ownership of a residence he owned in the Bahamas to FTX. The value of the property is estimated at $5.9 million.
