Bittime - Base, a fast-growing Layer 2 network announced the organization of Onchain Summer II. This event is a continuation of the success of the inaugural Onchain Summer which was held last year. Onchain Summer II aims to invite builders, creators, brands and artists together to build the future of Onchain and drive massive blockchain adoption.
Mission to Attract 1 Billion Users
Onchain Summer II will officially launch on June 3 2024 and will last until next August. Base and partners will provide over 600 ETH (equivalent to approximately $2 million USD) in the form of prizes, grants, and Gas points. The main goal of this program is to attract more than one billion users to join and be active on the blockchain network.

Various Exciting Activities
Onchain Summer II will be divided into two periods. The first month-long period, starting from June 3, will be filled with online hackathon activities. Hackathon participants were challenged to build innovative applications and projects that leverage Base blockchain technology.
Entering July and August, it will be Coinbase's turn to take part. Coinbase plans to host various daily experiences that will make the onboarding process to blockchain easier and more fun. Details regarding these daily experiences will of course be announced further closer to the start of Onchain Summer II.
First Onchain Summer Success
The first Onchain Summer held in 2023 was a success. The event managed to attract participation from more than 268,000 crypto wallets over a period of 23 days. In addition, more than 700,000 tokens were minted from 75 NFT collections focused on art, gaming and advocacy.
Currently, Base itself has become the third largest Layer 2 network based on TVL and contributes to increasing blockchain adoption globally. Through Onchain Summer II, Base hopes to accelerate the pace of blockchain adoption and get this technology into the hands of more users.
