Bittime - io.net, a Solana-based DePIN protocol, just achieved a major milestone in its first two weeks after launch. Ahmad Shadid, founder and CEO of io.net, via the X platform (Twitter), announced a number of extraordinary advances that the io.net team has achieved.
io.net achievements
1. Proof-of-Work (PoW) Verification is Active
The PoW verification process is now up and running on all connected GPUs every six hours. Notes (logs) related to this verification have been published. The io.net team is conducting an audit of PoW verification and will build a better user interface (UI) and automation for the log after the official launch.
2. Unverified GPU Transparency
Based on user feedback, the "Total GPU" indicator in the browser has been changed to "Not Verified". This change is intended to clarify that the number represents a GPU that is trying to connect, but has not been verified as a real GPU.
3. Worker Login Problems
Apart from that, the worker login problem has also been resolved. Users will no longer be asked to restart the server repeatedly.

4. Blacklist Naughty Workers
Workers who try to run other jobs in parallel on io.net will be automatically blacklisted. This aims to create a more stable cluster and minimize reward dilution for committed GPUs.
5. GPU Allocation Improvements
Not only that, the problem of users receiving the wrong GPU in the cluster due to nodes containing mixed GPUs has also been resolved.
Next Focus of the io.net Team
Despite significant progress, the io.net team still had a series of issues that needed to be addressed and improved before the official launch. Here are some of the urgent tasks the team is currently tackling:
- Worker Activity Points Publication: Publish points earned from Worker activities between March 1, 2024 to April 25, 2024. The team is targeting completion of this work this week.
- Worker Payment System Improvements: Improve the payment system for withdrawing funds by Workers.
- Open Source PoW Verification Binaries: Makes the source code of the binaries used for PoW verification publicly available.
- Malware Warning Fix: Fixed an error regarding malware warnings when running a new client.
- IO Worker Update: Updates the IO Worker to indicate when the Worker is undergoing the PoW verification process.
