This mainnet launch does not include an internal payment system and slashing mechanism (reduction of rewards due to validation errors). These two features are planned to be added after the EigenLayer marketplace develops and stabilizes.
Well Welcomed by the Public
The launch of EigenLayer and EigenDA is welcomed because it offers various benefits, such as:
High scalability
Capable of handling more than 1,000 transactions on rollup.
Flexible in terms of costs
Operators can determine prices based on demand and reserved bandwidth. Payments using native tokens will likely be available later.
Staking native tokens
This feature will be coming soon and will allow rollups to use their native tokens in verifying DA (Data Availability) data availability.
Ease of integration
Network giants such as Polygon CDK and Starkware will soon join. Currently, EigenLayer supports OP Stack and Arbitrum Orbit. Integration can be done easily via RAAS (Remote Attestation As A Service).

Most of the rollups that will leverage EigenDA are still in development and official announcements will follow soon.
EigenLayer calls this launch an important step, but there is still a lot of development to be done. Upcoming features to look forward to are slashing and an internal payment system. EigenLayer is committed to fully launching AVS soon.
It is expected that many new operators will join as more AVS, operators and delegates arrive. This launch comes days after EigenLayer announced a partnership with a16z crypto.
This partnership aims to strengthen the ecosystem with better use cases, both in terms of quality and quantity. Ultimately, users will benefit from safer and more useful crypto products.
