Net Outflow Hits Spot Bitcoin ETFs: Grayscale Emerges as Major Player in Downturn

Bittime – Data from SoSoValue reveals that the Bitcoin Spot ETF experienced net outflows yesterday, April 16 (EST). Total net outflows for all Bitcoin Spot ETFs totaled US$58.03 million.

Grayscale Leads Outflow

Grayscale Bitcoin Trust ( GBTC ), a major player in the Spot Bitcoin ETF market, experienced the most significant daily net outflow, reaching US$79.38 million. This adds to GBTC's existing historical net outflows, which currently stand at US$16.46 billion.

Inflows Are Positive for Some ETFs

Despite the negative overall trend, some Bitcoin Spot ETFs did experience positive net inflows. BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin ETF (IBIT) led the way with daily net inflows of around US$25.78 million. VanEck's Bitcoin Strategy ETF ( HODL ) also saw positive inflows, with net inflows of around US$3.56 million for the day.

Current Market Conditions

At the time of writing, the estimated total net asset value of all Bitcoin Spot ETFs is US$52.73 billion. This means the ETF's net asset ratio (market value to total Bitcoin market value) is 4.25%. Total historical net inflows for the Spot Bitcoin ETF remained positive at US$12.43 billion.

Conclusion

Recent net outflows from Spot Bitcoin ETFs, particularly from Grayscale's GBTC, indicate a potential shift in investor sentiment towards these investment vehicles.
