Bittime - Binance, the world's largest crypto asset exchange, has formed its board of directors for the first time. The board has seven members, including CEO Richard Teng and three other company executives, as well as three external members.

Despite not providing an official response, Binance has published a list of its board of directors on their website. This appointment to the board of directors comes amidst a year full of change and turmoil for Binance, including the resignation of the previous CEO, Changpeng Zhao (CZ).
Profile of External Board of Directors Members
- Gabriel Abed: Prior to joining Binance's board of directors, Abed served as Barbados' Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.
- Arnaud Ventura: Ventura is a successful entrepreneur who has founded several companies, including PlaNet Finance.
- Xin Wang: Currently serves as CEO of Bayview Acquisition Corp. and counsel on mergers and acquisitions for financial institutions.

Binance, Faces Money Laundering Accusations
Late last year, Binance was indicted on charges of money laundering, conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money transfer business, and sanctions violations. Binance agreed to pay a total of $4.3 billion in fines. The former CEO of Binance, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), was also charged with anti-money laundering and sanctions violations, and was fined $50 million and resigned from his post. A sentencing hearing for CZ is scheduled for April 30, 2024.

Following CZ's resignation, Binance appointed Richard Teng as the new CEO. Previously, Teng served as Head of Global Regional Markets at Binance. The formation of this board of directors is expected to bring greater stability and transparency to Binance.
