Popular online social and farming game Pixels, which operates on the Ronin network, has announced the closure of its Play-to-Airdrop 2.0 campaign on Friday. This move marks the beginning of the anticipated launch of the PIXEL token, which will be distributed to its players.
In this campaign, players have the opportunity to earn PIXEL tokens by competing on in-game leaderboards. The campaign will end on January 19 at 3pm ET, according to an announcement made by the developer on Wednesday. Pixels founder Luke Barwikowski confirmed in a live broadcast that the campaign will not be extended as the token launch is imminent.
Important Announcement from the Founders of Pixels
Barwikowski stated, "This is the last chance to earn PIXEL tokens before we execute the token generation event. We will not continue another season, I promise. PIXEL tokens are very close, and we are very excited for the next stage."
From the current campaign, 8,000 players will be allocated tokens, including the top 7,000 players on the leaderboard and another 1,000 randomly selected players. The condition is that they must have earned a minimum of 3,000 points in the game.

Fraud Prevention and Upcoming Promotions
The Pixels team will carry out checks to identify “bots” trying to take advantage of the airdrop before announcing the final results.
They will also provide an appeal opportunity for players who are incorrectly identified as bots. Next, the 8,000 winning players will join the 20,000 players from the first Play-to-Airdrop campaign to receive their share of PIXEL tokens.
Barwikowski also reminded players to be wary of scams on social media regarding the upcoming airdrop. He mentioned that players do not need to make any transactions with crypto wallets to claim the given tokens. Claims will be made in-game, with allocations determined off-chain.
There is No Estimated PIXEL Token Allocation or Launch Date
Until now, there is no information regarding the estimated token allocation or launch date for the PIXEL token. However, Barwikowski emphasized that the launch is very close.
Prior to the token launch, Pixels plans to hold a "Pixmas" promotion, offering prizes such as plots of land and in-game items. However, this promotion will not award additional PIXEL tokens after the Play-to-Airdrop 2.0 campaign ends.
Play-to-Earn Mechanism and Game Updates
Barwikowski added that play-for-prize mechanics will continue to be added to the game over time, especially with the launch of the game's "Chapter 2" update.
Pixels and the Ethereum Ronin Network
Lastly, Pixels has migrated from Ethereum scaling network Polygon to Ronin on October 31st, triggering a huge spike in users for this gaming sidechain. The Ronin Network, created by the team behind Axie Infinity, has seen a significant increase in the number of daily active players since the arrival of Pixels.
