Bittime -Bloomberg analysts predict the Ethereum Spot ETF will start trading in the US on July 2. Discover how this SEC approval could change the Ethereum market and your investment opportunities!
Ethereum Spot ETF: Potential Launch
Bloomberg analyst, Eric Balchunas, predicts that the Spot Ether ETF will start trading in the United States on July 2, 2024. In his post on June 15, Balchunas said that the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) provided quite light comments on the Ether ETF application.

SEC Approval Process
Eric Balchunas noted that the SEC will likely complete the regulatory process and grant approval before the US Independence Day holiday weekend on July 4. This indicates that the SEC is working to declare the regulations effective as quickly as possible. Previously, on May 23, the SEC had approved eight 19b-4 filings to list Spot Ether ETFs on various US exchanges, but they could not begin trading until they received the necessary S-1 registration statement approval.
Market Predictions and Expectations
SEC Chairman Gary Gensler gave a broader timeframe for approval of the Spot Ether ETF, indicating it could happen within the next three months, or as late as the end of September. However, Gensler also said that the speed of approval will depend on how quickly issuers can respond to comments from the SEC.
Some traders hope that Ether prices may mirror Bitcoin's chart movements following the approval of a Bitcoin ETF on January 11, which surged to a record high of $73,679 on March 13. However, not everyone shares the same beliefs. Stephen Richardson, managing director of financial markets at Fireblocks, thinks the Spot Ether ETF will not experience the same first-day inflows as the Spot Bitcoin ETF. Richardson said that the use cases for Ethereum assets are much more difficult to assess, given the lack of broad consensus that effectively evaluates the utility or utilization rate of the Ethereum blockchain.

The Future of Ethereum and ETFs
The launch of the Spot Ether ETF is a big step in the crypto industry, especially for investors who want to gain exposure to Ether without having to buy and hold digital assets directly. With SEC approval fast approaching, the Ethereum market is expected to see increased liquidity and participation from institutional investors.
However, it is important to note that despite high optimism, there are still challenges to be faced. Evaluation of the utility and utilization of the Ethereum blockchain remains a key factor in determining the success of this ETF.
